Join us at His Majesty's Theatre this August for a celebration of Vivaldi, in collaboration with West Australian Opera. A stunning program of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons and sublime arias inspired by nature, performed by two of Australia’s finest vocalists.

The Australian Baroque Christmas Concert 

Directed by conductor Hugh Lydon

Curated and directed by Aquinas Schola Director and WASO Chorus Director Hugh Lydon, this is a classic English Christmas celebration concert, Westminster Cathedral style. Join us for mince pies and a stunning program of festive works by Bach, Handel and Corelli as well as some traditional Christmas Carols.

Join us for an evening of Baroque splendor with West Australian Opera Principal Artist Brigitte Heuser, as West Australian Opera and Australian Baroque Orchestra unite to explore life's beauty in resilience. 

The recital Le Belle Immagini; tranquillità e tumulto (The beautiful image; tranquilty and turmoult)  opens with Vivaldi's"Sovente il sole" from "Andromeda Liberata" which foreshadows the theme that life rejuvenates after a challenge.

 Handel's "Ombra mai fu"  and Glück's "Le belle Immagini" relish the moment to appreciate peace and calm before disturbance. 

Aria's from Vivaldi's Juditha Triumphans and Farnace vividly depict the depth of human experience—from fragility to fury. Handel's duet "Bramo aver mille vite" from Ariodante and aria "Dopo Notte" celebrate overcoming adversity and challenge, showcasing Brigitte Heuser's coloratura vocal prowess.

Don't miss this moving evening of music that celebrates resilience and beauty of life with the West Australian Opera and Australian Baroque.

Mozart’s Piano Quartets

With the internationally acclaimed fortepianist and Patron of Australian Baroque, Dr Geoffrey Lancaster AO, we present Mozart’s two sublime Piano Quartets KV 478 and KV 479—a form of chamber music invented by Mozart himself. Containing keyboard writing that was considered unplayable in Mozart’s time, these magnificent works are universally regarded not only as revealing the composer at his very best, but also as the ‘jewel in the crown’ of Mozart’s fortepiano chamber music.

Also on the program is Mozart’s rarely heard and inspiringly beautiful Rondo in F major KV 494 for solo fortepiano, written only seven days after Mozart had penned his second piano quartet.

This performance takes place within the Brett Whitely exhibition at the John Curtin Gallery.

Haydn’s and Mozart’s Vienna 

Be delighted and thrilled by the ravishing sounds and passionate nuances-of-meaning familiar to late eighteenth-century lovers of music in Haydn’s and Mozart’s Vienna; fortepianist Geoffrey Lancaster plays scintillating masterpieces by music’s first eccentric genius, Gottfried Müthel, by the musical connoisseur’s beloved Joseph Haydn, and by the ever-astonishing Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

After our recent performance of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, we return to beautiful Toodyay for a feast of music by Purcell, Rameau, Handel and Vivaldi and the words of love's greatest poet, Shakespeare, on a musical pilgrimage from love’s first kiss to life’s last breath at eternity’s portal. West Australian Opera principal artist Emma Pettemerides and Australian Baroque invite you to join us for this succulent musical banquet.

Intimate Musical Conversations - Keyboard Collective Series

In 2023, in collaboration with the WA Art Collective, we launched Intimate Musical Conversations, curated by Dr Geoffrey Lancaster AO. 

Dr Paul Tunzi curates our 2024 offering of this unique keyboard series. The audience, sitting close to a performer and their instrument, hear the player tell of the questions that were catalysed by performance, and the thinking and playing that necessarily took place in response.

A stunning program by Italian composer Antonio Vivaldi, starring flautist Andy Skinner, paired with equally stunning wines from Faber. Australian Baroque Artistic Director and violinist Helen Kruger gives a masterclass in playing music in the Baroque style.
Three musicians will participate in this hour-long masterclass, chosen to present a varied range of instruments and Baroque music.

The audience is open to all, with both musicians and music appreciators encouraged to attend. Gain fascinating insight into performing music written during the Baroque Period (1600 to 1750) from one of Australia's leading specialist musicians of the period.
